Today's picture is the avatar for the new Facebook page for the restaurant where I work. We had almost 100 fans within the first four days! Search for us in FB and be a fan, too. Spinney's is a special place right at the mouth of Maine's largest and greatest rivers, the Kennebec and looking out to the ocean just beyond the northern tip of Casco Bay, Maine.

Surrounding the restaurant, guesthouse and cottages are Civil War Fort Popham just to the left, World War II Fort Baldwin just around the corner, the quaint and beautiful village of Bay Point across the river, the old Coast Guard Light Station (now a B & B) just down the long and winding beach, Fox Island lighthouse, Seguin Lighthouse and Pond Island light (visible from the Popham Road). Just up the road and on the way are Doubling Point Light Station and Squirrel Point light. I love, love, love working there :)
So, I've decided to go forward with my plans for fixing up the barn and using that and the surrounding space to promote the art of the very talented people in Phippsburg. Quite a few artists have expressed an interest in collaborating on the project and I now know that with the help of others this is something that can be accomplished and successful. We have so many visitors here that it would be a wonderful opportunity for our local talent to show off and sell their works and for the people that come to take something truly unique and special back home with them to remember us by. So I've been painting, sorting, and cleaning at the barn and it's beginning to look pretty sweet. That makes me happy. More later.
If you get it going, perhaps you would offer some place to another Spinney’s alumna, Micah Smith, to show his stained glass. Contact micah@micahsmithdesigns.com.
