Sea Creatures in the Kelp Bed - Thick Acrylic on Paper - Andrea Brand

This abstract painting is titled Sea Creatures in the Kelp Bed.  I just sold a limited edition (1/22), 8x10, signed print of this one to a waitress I work with at Spinney's Restaurant, Popham Beach.  My son likes this one, too.  I like all the strange creatures floating around in it :)

Busy, busy, busy preparing for the art show coming up in just two weeks. Have all the advertising placed and paid for. Will list in Times Record, Coastal Journal, and Fishermens Voice. Also have all the posters printed, laminated, and posted all over town. Even a handicapped Porta Potty coming! So excited five other artists will be showing with me.

Gary Wallace, a well known and long time commercial tuna and lobster fisherman from the famed Wallace fishing family of West Point in Phippsburg, Maine is allowing me to sell and display his hand carved duck and shorebird decoys. They are exquisite works of art and I own one myself I love them so much.

Lucille Totman, a master fiber artist from Phippsburg will be selling and displaying her traditionally hand hooked works of art depicting pop bouys in the colors  assigned to the local lobster fishermen.

Cindy Ballard, a long time resident and descendent of the Day family will be offering delightful watercolors, miniatures, and her hand designed and created authentic Phippsburg seaglass and sterling jewelry.

Mel Dearborn is an amateur photographer who is becoming quite well known on the peninsula for her  close ups of  some of the most interesting flora and fauna of Phippsburg. She captures wildflowers, butterflies, moths, beetles, dragonflies, owls, ospreys and more in amazingly minute detail. She will offer photo signed note cards and framed prints of her photography.

Micah Smith is a stained glass artist and long time summer resident of Popham Beach in Phippsburg. He is a former coworker of mine from Spinney's Restaurant, too. He designs and creates animal, floral, and custom works of stained glass art that are stunningly beautiful.

I am so pleased and grateful to have a place for people to come and enjoy the creations of these fellow Phippsburg artists. Next year I'd like to bring even more artists into the eyes of the public as the talent here  is rich and diverse.

Got the logo on the barn yesterday and had a guy help me move some lumber out to make room for the art show. Now I just have to finish sweeping, power wash the place and set up shop!

Puffy is as big as a house and ready to deliver another crop of kittens to us. We weren't planning on this bunch but she got pregnant just about the first week we got home from the island before I could get her fixed so it is what it is. Have to get Blackie to the vet soon as she is almost old enough to get pregnant, too, and well, we all know too many cats is just too much! Though, if the captain would allow it I'd probably have ten or so. If these kittens are anything like mine I won't have any problem finding a home for them :)

Lots more going on but I'll blog about that tomorrow. Having a wonderfully productive summer. Loving it! More later.
