Just finished this painting a few days ago. It is a very, very thick acrylic, mixed media abstract on canvas board. It is quite large, like 16x20. This one took me quite awhile to finish. It has Queen Anne's Lace, Maine sea glass, seaweed, and pebbles embedded right into the paint. That's a beach in Small Point, Maine in the background. I like the contrast of realism and abstract in this one :) It is titled Rain.
Spent all day yesterday and half the day before preparing paperwork for my new business permit application. A dear twitter and fb friend said sometimes you have to wade through the muck to get to the good stuff. I guess coming from a long line of fishermen I know all about wading through the muck (literally) and a little muck never hurt anyone. Thanks, Carol, for your continued support and words of encouragement as I journey forth into my life dream of being a full time artist.
Quiet in the Burg. Lots of tourists are here but they don't always make it over to my neck of the woods. The kayakers have discovered it and I see them all the time now in front of the house. Can't blame them. It's def one of the prettiest places on the planet. I knew we'd have to share it one day with the rest of the world. Don't mind, though. Tourism is great, especially since fishing isn't something we can depend on for much longer. Phippsburg is really becoming known as an art community, too, which I love. It has always been a place of inspiration for artists, poets, lovers, and dreamers. http://www.phippsburg.info. More later.
