Today's picture is a painting I am working on titled "Boat off West Point, Maine." I may have to change the title if I decide not to put the boat in it that is in the photograph I'm working from. It seems to me that this painting may be done and I know one of the most difficult things about being an artist is knowing when to quit! We'll see how I feel about that tomorrow.
We are having just about the most spectacular spring anyone could ever dream of in Maine. I just checked the temperature and it is actually one degree warmer here than in Old Homossassa, Florida so I am definately we decided to come home when we did.
The captain has the garden in and it is looking fantastic. We have way too much in there to list and I suspect I'll have my work cut out for me as I know we'll have enough of several things to can for the winter. Sure will be nice having our own canned veggies when we're out on the island. I want to put up some blueberries and blackberries, too.
Working at Spinney's Restaurant at Popham Beach again this year and loving every minute of it. Practically the entire staff has worked there before (several of them for years and years) and things are running like a well oiled machine. No answering questions all night long, no waiting for anything or having to correct anything. Perfection. Finally.
Haven't decided yet whether to open the barn as an art studio or just to have a few art shows of my own this year. May try it out and see how it goes. Would love to have a combo art and antique auction and be my own auctioneer (you can do that once a year with your own things without a permit or license). Now that John Haab (rest his soul) is gone there aren't any auctions nearby. The barn would be perfect for it with upstairs and downstairs seating. Bet I'd draw in over a hundred even on a bad day. Need to think about it a bit more before I make my decision. I'm fairly independent so not sure I want to involve others.
Not much else happening right now. Looks like I'll have a lot of time to paint art this week and then we are only open Thursday - Sunday until Father's Day. That will leave me even more time than I thought before I go to work full schedule. I'm loving it because I have a lot more art I want to paint before my show. More later.
