My Father's Field

 My Father's Field

Today's picture is of an abstract on paper that may or may not yet be finished of my father's field at his farm in Pennsylvania. I  will likely add some cows to this one and maybe even his big barn with the bright red roof.  My father dreamed for many years of owning a cattle ranch in northern Pennsylvania and after he retired from and sold his welding company in New Jersey his dreams came true. He bought  hundreds of acres of sprawling fields and woods, built a house, built a big barn, built an even bigger pond, built a small general store, and set up shop. He sells the beef he raises. Most of the work he did himself and he is now in his 70s.  They broke the mold when they made my old man. I'm so glad he is living his dream.

My son, Zack,  has been working on revamping my website and it's coming along beautifully.  I have a new logo based on a graphic illustration of mine I created for the Spinney's Restaurant menus. Hundreds of thousands of people have seen the image and my name associated with it so I think it was the best choice for the logo.  Zack even managed to incorporate my graphic illustration of a female mallard duck  (see bottom of page on this site) into the site. It wasn't perfect for a logo but she's been with me so long now I couldn't bear to see her go completely. Glad he found a way to keep her a part of my everyday life. She's  my good luck charm.

Our own verysmallanna  is coming home from NYC for Thanksgiving and I couldn't be happier. She is having a blast in the city and so far Zack has been going down there to visit in between lobstering full time here to earn some money before he moves, too. He wants me to drive the pick up into the city when he gets ready to move and I'm hesitant but really would like to. I love an adventure and I know that after the first time it will only get easier. Besides, I'd really like to be able to just jump in the car and drive down for a visit when things get too boring in Maine.

Planning on going back to our little island off the coast of Homosassa, Florida this winter and doing some more watercolor paintings. It's so beautiful out there and I just love being surrounded by nothing other than nature.  Will likely rent the same house we rented last year and camp on the island when the weather is nice enough. Thinking of building something permanent on the island this year, too. More later.
