Maine Sunsets are Surreal

Phippsburg%2C Maine sunset

Today's picture is a photograph I took Tuesday night of the sunset over the cove between the original site of the Fort Popham Colony and Fort Popham in Phippsburg, Maine. To learn more about this historic seaside fishing village just an hour north of Portland, Maine visit www.phippsburg.info.

I was waitressing at Spinney's Restaurant when I looked out and saw this amazing sunset so I ran out back and grabbed my camera then flew outside to get some shots of it before it was too late. Good thing I only had a few tables going and my customers hardly missed me. I've seen some beautiful sunsets while working at Spinney's but rarely have the opportunity to actually capture them on film.

My Maine lobster fisherman installed my new dishwasher yesterday and I'm loving it already. My old dishwasher lasted nine years so that's a pretty good run considering what I put it through feeding half the neighborhood while my son was growing up. This one is another Kenmore, the only brand appliances I will ever buy.

I'm finishing up some chores this morning then I'm going to spend the afternoon and all day tomorrow painting. My oil paints have arrived, I have lots of canvases, and lots of new brushes. I may even paint outside and enjoy this beautiful summer weather we're still having in Maine.  More later.
