Happy Mother's Day! Today's picture is a fairly recent acrylic on paper of Maine lilacs. This is one in a series of four Maine wildflower paintings I experimented with on the island in Florida this past winter.
Well, now I am back home in Maine with a windowsill full of of real Maine lilacs and I can't think of a better place to be spending Mother's Day unless it was with my son in Brooklyn. I'm going there to see him next week and take some photos of the city so I can come back and paint them. Also want to visit the Guggenheim Museum while I'm there and some of the art museums in Brooklyn as well. Can't wait!
Spinney's Restaurant on Popham Beach is open for the season and I'll be working there waitressing again this summer starting soon. I love working there and have as much fun as one could ever expect to have at a real job. The work is hard but we play hard too and laugh the whole time we're doing it. The old gang is back so no training required this year and everything should run as smooth as silk. Come on down.
Lots to do and so little time. I'll be painting again real soon as I have my best friend coming to help me get the house in order. Had a family of mice living in here while we were gone and it took me over six hours just to clean the kitchen yesterday (and it's not that big). At this rate I'll spend all spring cleaning and I'd much rather be painting art.
Have a wonderful day, everyone and don't forget to show your mother some love today. More later.
Love those lilacs!!!
