This is a mixed media and oil on canvas board I'm working on called Wildflowers-2. It doesn't have any actual wildflowers incorporated into it like my wildflowers 1 did but it does have a very thick and textured quality. It also has that lovely shade of gray that so many art books tell you to avoid. It comes from mixing paint over paint over paint. It also gives a realistic depth to a painting and a stark contrast to bright colors straight from the tube layed on top of it.
I like the bold, red flower blotches. I like the black. I like the greens, the grays, the yellows. I like the string. I'd hang it. I kind of wish it were even bigger than it is. Not sure if I'm done with it or not. It started out as something very different quite awhile ago. Some of my paintings change now. Only those that don't feel quite done, though.
Busy day doing wife type things like getting groceries, doing laundry, dishes, and well you get the picture. It was a beautiful, sunny day and very warm for November first. I wanted to paint this afternoon but didn't feel up to it once I got back from town. The guys are going lobster fishing tomorrow (I'm pretty sure) so I'll spend tomorrow painting as I have my other work done now. Family time now. More later.
