I painted this yesterday between running errands and work at Spinney's Restaurant, Popham. I had a few staves from an old wooden barrel and was thinking of painting something on one but it was so long and thin nothing came immediately to mind.
Didn't have a lot of time to mess around so grabbed paper, acrylics and brushes and set to work on this one of a girl on Popham Beach. I was inspired by a photo I took last year on a real foggy day. There was a man in my photo but the back of his head looked a bit off so I made longer hair and turned it into a girl. She reminds me of me. I may keep this one and offer a limited number of prints (I've decided to limit any prints I offer to 22 and sign and number them).
The barn is coming along nicely for my first ever art show and sale this Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 1, 2010. I also want to have other local artists show their works as the many wonderful artists of Phippsburg have so few resources to show and share their art. The Five Rivers Art Alliance http://www.fiveriversartsalliance.org is one organization that is promoting art in the region and I am proud and pleased to say they are now following me on twitter.
Not real busy at Spinney's yet but our locals have been coming and it is much appreciated. Busy or slow, it's always fun working there and I suspect I'd do it even if I didn't need the money. I'm not saying I'd do it for free, but I bet I'd do it for tips alone :)
Need to check the cornbread. Making the captain a good ole southern dinner as I'm working a double today. Roasted chicken, stuffing, grits, collard greens and cornbread. He's going to love this. He and my cousin are out in the yard playing golf. Yes, we have a golf course in our yard and it's only on a half acre. Our neighbor let's us use part of his yard, too and we have 11 holes I think. I don't play. It's great. Keeps the captain happy and I like having him around so I don't have to be a golf widow. LOL. Have a great day, my friends. More later.
