Today's picture is of a very calming painting of mine of the Basin at Sebasco in Phippsburg, Maine. Obviously it is the perspective from our boat (while we were out there hauling lobster traps). This is a beautiful place where 4,000 year old clam shell heaps left by Native Americans have been found and where time itself seems to hold its breath upon entering the narrow inlet which expands into a wonderous big round pool of warm, salty water. Go before it's too late as it's becoming much too popular as each year passes. Mr. Hatch did donate around 3,000 acreas of this wonderland to the Nature Conservancy before his death, however, and for this we are forever grateful. Phippsburg, Maine now has more conserved land than any other place in Maine, making it a spectacular place to hike, explore, and visit.
I wanted to paint art last night a little before midnight and all of my supplies were three miles away at my new Barn Gallery. Definately going to need materials both here at the house and at the gallery so that when the mood strikes I can paint. I'm finding that painting is a lot like poetry. Some days it consumes me and other days it's distant. But always it is in my heart.
Three more nights waitressing at Spinney's on Popham Beach and I'm done for now. I want to focus full time on my art and home life again as it is too much to try to do three jobs at once and do them all well. Hopefully my friends from work will stop by the gallery and visit with me once in a while so I can stay "in the loop" and won't miss them all too much. I've worked there for 10 seasons now and they are all like family to me.
My cat, Puffy and her nine month old kitten, Blackie are both getting fixed in a few weeks. We have three now and that's a great plenty. The newest, a little male we call Ibby is eating on his own but hasn't quite figured out the litter box yet. Mama's still tending to him so it hasn't become an issue yet. Tried to eat the kitty litter this morning until he realized it didn't taste all that good.
My to do list is as long as my arm (as usual) so I'm doing a little networking then getting an early start on things. I've picked up an incredible amount of new twitter and facebook followers lately and I'm grateful for all the support and encouragement from my online friends as I switch gears and pursue my art with the same passion I always felt for it as a child sketching on everything I could get my hands on. Oh, yes, I'm certainly going to find some time to paint today. Life is good. Have a safe, sweet day. More later.
