Hello World. It's been awhile since I've written. I've been busy painting out on the island in the Little Homosassa River in Florida. It's been warming up just a bit which is a welcome change. It's been a cold winter but at least we didn't have to contend with snow (just a little).
Today's picture is the latest graphic art piece I completed just recently. It kind of goes with my last one which was on the previous blog post. This is some of the grand old houses on Popham Beach, Maine as seen from the distance on the Popham Road along the way. I am thinking of doing even more in this series and have designed them to print at 12x16 or even larger. Will be issuing a limited edition series when I get these finished. Not sure how many I'll do. Maybe two more.
Also working on four paintings at one time. I'm getting better at this multitasking when it comes to art. One is a cool, thick, mixed media acrylic abstract on thick slab wood of flowers. Another is a panorama of Sebasco Harbor Resort as seen from our wharf with the little lobster boats and sailboats in the harbor. The third is a drippy, thick abstract on canvas of life under the tropic sea, and the fourth is a very realistic (but almost surreal) sunset over the southern tip of Malaga Island, Maine.
We found a good home for two of the kitties and decided we should stick to Plan A and just keep one kitten for company for Puffy. I really wanted to keep them all but the Captain pointed out that we really couldn't affort to properly care for four cats if something happened to one of them. He's right. He usually is. I wouldn't say so but he never reads my blog so he can't hold me to it!
Writing a small booklet about the Phippsburg peninsula, too. I'm calling it Phippsburg, Maine "Where Time Stands Still" and it is designed primarily for the tourism industry with a list of local businesses and phone numbers and a map in the centerfold. This project is about 95% complete and includes my photography, art, and historical research. Loving the way it's turning out.
I'm also periodically working on my book about the Black History of Casco Bay, Maine. This project has been ongoing for a few years now and I am anxious to get back home so I can continue my research on the internet. My little throw away phone is a bit costly and time consuming for doing any serious research. I still have lots of files I'm going over that I dowloaded before I left, though.
Haven't been swimming yet but sure hope I get to soon. Almost went the other day but it got too cold and windy. Missing Popham Beach, Spinney's, and Maine in general but we'll probably stick it out here for another month or so before heading back. Last year we went back a little early and suffered through that month and a half of rain in early spring. At least here it's warm enough to lay out in the sun once in awhile. Sweet sunshine. My weakness. More later.
